Josh Berke is the new Director of the Alcohol and Addiction Research Group

Josh Berke is the new Director of the Alcohol and Addiction Research Group and the newly appointed Rudi Schmid Distinguished Professor of Neurology at UCSF. Dr. Berke’s work focuses on neural mechanisms underlying learning, decision-making and motivation, and how these mechanisms can go awry in neurological and psychiatric disorders. He studied Natural Sciences at the University of Cambridge before obtaining his PhD in Neurobiology at Harvard University. Before joining UCSF, he spent 12 years at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, where he was Professor of Psychology and of Biomedical Engineering.
